Later that year after the release of their third album, “Vitalogy,” the band conducted their own tour, playing exclusively non-Ticketmaster venues. Wanting to connect with their fans more directly and avoid them paying fees to the “outright ” concert industry, Pearl Jam cancelled their 1994 summer tour. This boycott began because the band felt that their fans were paying extortionate fees on concert tickets for their shows. For instance, they refused to make music videos to promote albums and never gave interviews the little media engagement they were involved in was regarding a boycott of ticketing giant, Ticketmaster in 1993. ![]() Pearl Jam has been infamous or famous (depending on whose side you’re on) for peddling against music industry traditions and the mainstream since the band’s inception. The drummer for the band has changed no less than five times, but currently Matt Cameron (of the band Soundgarden) fills the post. Born out of the band, Mother Love Bone, after the death of their vocalist, Andrew Wood, the band consists of guitarist Stone Gossard, bassist Jeff Ament, guitarist Mike McCready and vocalist Eddie Vedder. ![]()
